Sue's Notes about Persicaria amplexicaulis (Red bistort)

A favourite of mine in late summer for its long lasting flower spikes and reliability. Good in borders but even better for filling in unloved shady spots next to sheds and bins. PS - our plant looks identical to P.amplexicaulis 'Firetail' - I can't tell the difference!
